Help me give my students the opportunity to hear their original recordings and music productions
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My students are exceptionally talented and gifted young people with special needs. Their diagnoses range from autism spectrum disorder to having learning, emotional and psychological disabilities. Music and fine arts programs give them a much needed creative outlet where they can freely express themselves and share their abilities in a safe, encouraging and supportive learning community.
My students enjoy participating in music making exercises using both traditional and nontraditional instruments.
Many of them haven't taken formal lessons and are beginning music students. To better support their learning needs, our department has successfully implemented universal learning design and assisted technology protocols which has strengthened their creative process.
My students have a deep passion for music, performing and creativity. They are gifted with a unique ability to excel in performance without fear of criticism or failure, which isn't typical in most young adults. I am inspired by their courage and sheer joy for life! It is true privilege to serve them and nurture their development through music and the arts.
Our students are learning about music production and engineering techniques as part of our music technology curriculum. Students participate in making their own songs using Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) such as Garageband, FL Studio, and XChange Recording Software. An essential part of this experience is being able to work independently in order to process the skills learned in a lesson (i.e. differentiate, construct, discover, predict, design, etc.) and develop their own production styles.
Having new headphones would allow my students to create new music works independently.
The noise cancellation effect on the headphone is a great benefit to students with sound sensitivity, who will have the chance to create in private without unwanted distraction.
