Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Mexico, India, Pakistan, United States... these are just a few of my students' backgrounds. Despite this wonderful diversity, economic barriers have presented them with many challenges socially, emotionally, and academically. Failure, however, is not an option for me or them!
They are my past, present, and future dreamers who have inspired me to be their champion.
They WANT to learn and be appropriately challenged with meaningful and relevant experiences. As a Title 1 school, however, we rarely have the funding to provide adequate and necessary resources. It is my hope that this project will help ease some of our current struggles.
My Project
My students love to explore, research, and create ideas for projects that relate to their learning. They especially love to do so in an interactive way using their laptops.
Technology has convinced some of my most reluctant students that learning can be fun and creative.
They are able to participate in interactive read-alouds, conduct grade level appropriate research, collaborate on online science investigations, and produce digital presentations.
All of these important learning experiences rely on technological accessories that consistently and effectively work on a daily basis. Having reliable headphones and mice will ensure that our learning time is spent on learning content rather than troubleshooting issues due to poorly made devices.
