Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have twenty-three students in my pre-kindergarten classroom. My classroom is housed in a Title I school in Greenville, South Carolina. One hundred percent of my students receive free or reduced-price meals. Many of my students speak English as a second language.
The students in my classroom have been identified by our school district as being "at-risk" and needing an additional year of educational programming.
It is my goal to make this additional year of programming one that not only provides the necessary academic needs but also provides the social and interpersonal skills found in play.
My Project
Have you ever went "Back to School" shopping with that long list that we teachers compile every year? The items on that list are things that we as teachers need to make our classrooms run smoothly, but are very costly. Can you imagine being a parent that has two, three or even four of those lists? I want to have the materials necessary in my classroom, but want to take some of the financial burden off my low income parents.
I would like to have headphones for each of my students to use during small group.
My student will use the headphones to listen to audio books and do activities on our class iPads.
By providing these headphones, I will be able to remove some of the financial burden my student's families have during the "BTS" season.
