This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Our classroom is a place of community, shared expression, collaboration, mindful practices, and new learning experiences. A lot of things happen in here beyond reading and writing, and we like it this way! My students enjoy the vibrant space, a place where we try new things and support everyone.

The students come from all parts of our city and bring with them the experiences of their families, homes, neighborhoods, and the greater community.

Sometimes, these things enhance our learning and make it a richer experience for everyone. Other times this brings chaos and conflict. Whatever the students come with, we work together to be a classroom community of learners moving forward together to achieve success.

My Project

In order to expose my students to more vocabulary rich literature I would like a class set of headphones for state testing and daily center work. I love to read to my students, but they also need time to listen to stories independently. These headphones will enable me to set up a Listening Center were students will be able to listen to a story while I'm busy working with a small group. They can also working on iReady without disturbing other students.

Reading is a life skill we all need to master.

I believe these headphones will help students expand their vocabulary, comprehension, and LOVE of literature.
