The students are hoping to use their channel to bring the community in to their school. We are a consolidated district and our community is scattered through several surrounding towns. Many of our families have to work during and after school hours and we hope to be able to bring all of our school events to them. This project is a chance for students to get real problem solving experience and team work not found in a traditional classroom.
This project is a way for students to show their skills in a real way other than classwork.
Just as sport teams are able to showcase the abilities on the field, our LiveStream team shows their skills with every broadcast. They take great pride in what they have built and want to continue to improve their program.
Over the past 2 years my students have worked to create a channel to broadcast every event at our school. Since the beginning of their journey they have expanded from a 2 person crew to utilizing the talents of a dozen different students. As their crew grows the space needed for their work has gotten smaller.
Students are finding that having to route their audio directly through their cameras limits their camera placement.
By using a mixer students will be able to remotely monitor and level their audio away from the noise and chaos of the video crew. This will allow for students to get their cameras closer to the actions without being tethered to the microphones.
