My 5th graders are a class act! We are a small school located in a rural community in southern Illinois. Our school is a wonderful place for the students of this community to spend every day. The students in our community come from a variety of different walks of life. Many of the students who walk the halls of this school come from situations that none of us can imagine.
Specifically, some of my students require love and attention that they do not receive at home.
My classroom is our second home. We are not just teacher and students. We are family.
We live in an area where school supplies are not always provided by the families of our students. I am in desparate need of a set of headphones that the students can use when we are working with our Chromebooks in the classroom. It is imperative that I am able to provide these students with supplies, or they will not be able to complete the class work that is expected of them. Many of our assignments on the Chromebooks requre them to listen to a reading and watch a video to answer the questions on it.
I also want to allow these students to explore in the world of simple machines.
Several students do not always have that opportunity when they go home for the evening.
