My Students

My students attend a school that is moving in the direction of a 21st century classroom. Technology is a big part of our day in addition to flexible seating. My students are collaborative learners who love to change seats to work with different peers daily!

The way my students get together for group projects, by putting their minds together, delegating roles, and being creative, is truly amazing.

They are creative thinkers who think outside the box and pose challenging questions. In addition, being able to demonstrate and show perseverance is their strong suit!

My Project

Our daily routine in the classroom includes many opportunities for students to practice their content skills. Where the students go to practice such skills are online, given that we are 1:1 with Chrome Books. In addition to practicing skill content, many academic videos and presentations are shared through Google Classroom, to help build and expand on what the students are learning.

Practicing skills online and watching videos and presentations, requires access to audio, which some students do not have.

Having headphones in 6th grade is a requirement, but some struggle with meeting that for various reasons. It is normal to be forgetful, so some students may leave their set at home, some may have a set that breaks due to wiring, or some may have never had their own set as they couldn't afford it.

My hope is to have half a class set of headphones for those who need headphones for that school day, given that audio is a major necessity throughout our school day.
