My Students

I am a Language Arts teacher to 30 4th grade students in a small, rural town in Florida. The school I teach at is the exact school I grew up in over 40 years ago! I teach the kids and grandkids of friends, family members and former teachers. These small town kids are the best students anyone could ever ask for! Most are from hard working families who, like the rest of us, live paycheck to paycheck.

Many of the families just don't have the resources needed to give their kids everything they need to be successful at school!

My kids are earnest learners and really want to succeed! They are full of sincere curiosity and an inherent desire to learn.

My Project

My students use their chrome books for a variety of things. They spend time following an individualized path of learning on I-Ready, take Accelerated Reading tests among other assignments! However, because I am in lower economic area, most students don't have the means to purchase headphones for themselves and my school doesn't provide them. Therefore I am left trying to round up 30 pairs of headphones.

There are so many ways I would like to incorporate their chrome books into their learning experience, but find it hard to do without headphones!

These headphones would open up many new opportunities for learning while providing a quiet, learning environment for my kids.
