Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have a great group of Kindergarteners who are ready to learn. They are troopers when it comes to participating in our new "all day" kindergarten program.
My students are thirsty for knowledge and they have their own goals they want to achieve.
Unfortunately, our school is located in an area that has an economic challenge that parents and students face every day. Approximately 95% of our students are on free or reduced price lunch. For many, English is their second language, and many do not have technology in their homes. Our school will soon implement the Leader In Me program which helps students see their own greatness in themselves. My students will become the leaders of tomorrow...today!
My Project
Students have been using a program that helps them with phonemic awareness, reading and fluency. Having individual headphones for each student is essential to their success on their Language Arts program. Most of the program requires students to read or to listen to a story and answer questions. The program monitors their progress and areas of need. Without headphones, students often miss important information and or cannot hear the story. Headphones and storage, will help students access headphones easily and continue success in their reading program. The CD external drive will be used to burn CD's of ABC chants and Sight Word pronunciation in order for students to take home and listen to.
