My Students

We are a very rural school located in Southern Oregon. Our school is a K-5 elementary school with a large playground and surrounding property that allows for many outdoor activities. It is not unusual to see turkey and deer on the playground along with goats, lizards, and sometimes the neighbor's horse.

Our classroom is comprised of creative third graders.

Our students are dependent upon finding a safe and secure environment here in which they are able to learn. This is often the main place in which they feel at home.

We make it a priority to ensure that our students are provided with the essentials they need to be successful. Meeting their mental, physical, emotional, social, and academic needs is a constant concern and focus for our staff. We have limited resources with which to accomplish these important goals.

My Project

This year we have started blending learning on Chromebooks. The programs are interactive and have sound. Headphones are a must for listening to the audio sections of the activities. It is challenging to hear the directions and teaching when the headphones are not working properly. Students miss out on the content when the volume is low. For the remainder of the students who are participating in a different activity, it can be distracting to have ten different noises going on around them.

Headphones will reduce the noise in the classroom and library and allow all students to concentrate.

We are looking for some quality materials that will allow us to continue to use technology for learning.
