My students are curious and creative learners from rural West Virginia. Many are from families with low socioeconomic status and they rely on public education as their primary means of support and encouragement. We work hard to overcome many obstacles in order to create a positive, student-centered learning environment that promotes creativity, critical thinking, communication, and collaboration!
My students are thinkers, writers, readers, mathematicians, scientists, and artists.
They are inquisitive, persistent, and ready to overcome any hurdles that they may face in order to become successful!
Concentration is key in first grade! Our headphones have seen their better days. We need a new set of headphones for our computers and tablets so we're able to concentrate while we work.
We take weekly reading assessments online that are read aloud to students, making good headphones a necessity!
There is always a lot going on in our classroom, from small groups to partner reading. Students using technology during this time use headphones in order to concentrate and block out background noise. We use our computers and tablets daily. It is one of my students' favorite part of first grade!
