My Students

Have you ever tried to listen to something, but couldn't hear anything? Many of my students are so excited to be able to use the computer for educational programs, but often get frustrated when they can't hear any sound coming out of their headphones. We also have issues with headphones that are broken and older so they don't work anymore. My school has a population of about 60% free and reduced lunch, meaning that many students come from a lower income family. They don't normally have the extra funds to pay for headphones to send with their child to school.

These students deserve the opportunity to do their best with these programs and headphones would allow them the chance to hear the instruction being delivered.

The instruction given can help these students improve in their reading, so it is vital that they have equipment to use that is fully functioning.

My Project

A class set of brand new headphones will allow my students to be able to focus on their own work on their own computer. They will be able to concentrate because they will be able to hear the instruction that is being delivered to them on their level. My students don't do well with distractions, so often their focus wanders because the other students are having to listen to their computer without headphones on a low volume level. I would love for them to just be able to come into the computer lab, take their set of headphones, and go to their computer to work.

I would love to grow these students as readers by allowing them the opportunity to use equipment that works and allows them to continue the successes that they have had so far!
