My Students

"I love playing games on our computers", is an expression I hear often in my first grade classroom. "I wish I could play this more often", is something else my students often say. While my students enjoy lots of learning strategies, they do enjoy thier computers.

It is so good to see my students engaging in their learning while using technology at school.

This is because many of them do not have this opportunity at home. We are an urban kindergarten-first grade elementary school of nearly 400 children, located near the city of Detroit, Michigan. There are 26 children in my classroom representing a variety of cultures and languages. Nearly two thirds of our school children receive free or reduced lunches. We are a Title one building, receiving extra services for our students.

My Project

Having a set of headphones they can rely on will improve the learning of my students. We use computers for math and reading activities in the classroom, as well as technology skills in the computer lab. Right now children in our school are expected to supply their own headphones.

Many children do not have headphones, or they have inadequate headphones that break often and do not last.

I supply all I can, but it does get expensive when replacing 26 pairs several times throughout the year.

By having these high quality headphones supplied to our classroom, I hope they will last for many years, and several classes!
