This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
I have a wonderful 3rd grade class of 22 inner city students attending a magnet school with a focus on international education.
Most of my students do not have anyone at home that is willing to read to them or with them. I have spent years building my classroom library, but that does not help those that still struggle with reading.
I dreamed of having a listening center for my classroom for several years. I know that providing my class with a listening center4 would enable students to be able to listen to text that is too hard for them to read by themselves or enhance their enjoyment of reading by hearing their favorite book read by an experienced reader. This would also allow children to record and hear themselves reading aloud!
I have not been able to buy a listening center for my classroom because my money seems to always go to regular class supplies. But I know that YOU can make a difference. Please help make this dream come true for my classroom.
