My students need these headphones to be able to get on the computers, pencil sharpener to sharpen our pencils, and organizational items to keep us organized to better focus on learning!
The students in my classroom are determined and ready to learn every day when they come to school despite their struggles outside of school. Our district is in inner city York, where almost all of our students come from households well below the poverty line.
Every student deserves a great education, and we are working hard to make that happen here every single day.
What our school lacks in materials and supplies, most days even pencils, we make up for in school pride, perseverance, and yes even personality.
My Project
Our classroom has seven computers, but we do not have working headphones. When the students get onto the computers to practice their reading and math skills, the noise becomes overwhelming and they can't hear their own computer. Headphones will drastically help this.
We need a new pencil sharpener because dull pencils make dull work.
It is very time-consuming to sharpen pencils by hand with 26 students.
We need plastic book baskets because we are currently taping together the cardboard kind. They are not strong enough to hold up to the everyday use. Each student has their own book basket with independent reading books, but when the cardboard tears, the books become a mess!
We need the stikki clips to display student work. The students love to see their work on the walls, but we are not allowed to use tape, so this will allow us to display their wonderful work.
