We are so excited to start a new reading program in my classroom called Read 180. It will be the perfect addition to my alternative classroom. Unfortunately, we only have one headphone with a mic in my room for all to share, which we borrowed from another classroom. We need your help!
My school is an alternative learning center for students who struggle with learning in a traditional environment.
Up until this year, these 6th, 7th, and 8th graders did not have "a place of their own" but were mixed in with the 9th - 12th graders. This changed this school year. My classroom is a newly created classroom for these students so that they may soar and show their true potential. There is a plethora of reasons why a student would be placed with me, but the goals remain the same--to help these students become lifelong learners and productive citizens with good character. All of my students are unique and talented with a variety of learning styles and diverse needs. My classroom will be filled with many opportunities for success and this project is only a part of that.
My Project
Read 180 is a fabulous program that utilizes small group instruction, independent computer integration, individualized audio reading. It is a proven program that we are excited to be able to incorporate into my classroom. We are missing one big component. That would be headphones with microphones. During the independent computer integration students will work at their level on all sorts of skills. Some of these skills need for the kids to be able to read into the computer. So our current headphones will not do. It is a basic case of supply and demand. I have borrowed one headphone from another classroom. We have to clean the headphones between students and only one student can use it at a time. As you can see the demand for these headphones is great in my room, but the supply is very limited. Eventually, I would like to have one headphone for each of my students. This way each student can utilize this awesome reading program to its fullest potential.
This project will make such a positive impact on my kids and their learning.
I am sure that you realize the importance of reading and success in life. Your donation will show my kids that there are people in this world who care about them, their education, and their future. Please consider all the amazing worlds that your donation can open up to my kids through reading.
