Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is a community school that provides outreach to students and their families in a variety of ways.
We serve a community of students and their families who are predominantly English Learners.
With more than 85% of our students designated as socioeconomically disadvantaged, having a learning environment that is welcoming, supportive, and properly equipped with technology tools is essential.
My goal is to purchase earbuds for all the second-grade students at our school. Second graders at our site have individual Chromebook devices assigned to them and, as the need to use technology increases, it is crucial for each student to have their own set of personal earbuds.
My students are hardworking and determined. Second grade is an exciting year as students begin to formally access technology. These earbuds will provide students with the appropriate environment to thrive online!
My Project
Our classroom is a warm, welcoming space where students feel safe and ready to learn.
By providing each student with their own set of earbuds, I will be able to offer a quiet atmosphere conducive to learning.
Each student will be able to access their online platforms and district-wide assessments without interruption. Currently, students struggle to focus when using technology as they are able to hear the sound of other Chromebook devices being used around them. Individual earbuds will help eliminate distractions and help support students as they navigate the online world - at times for fun, practice, and exposure while other times for more formal assessments.
The use of technology in the classroom today provides basic skills in which children must have competency in order to be successful in school now and in the years to come. These earbuds will enhance student technology experiences and better prepare our second graders for future innovations. Thank you!
