This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
"Ms. Parker, my headphones aren't working." Bless the tiny ears of my patient kindergarten kiddos and their infamous lament over not being able to properly hear their computers due to glitchy headphones; I work at a school that's situated in a low socio-economic area and, unfortunately, reliable headphones are frequently hard to come by. We do a lot of work on our computers and even have designated technology days where students are tasked with independently completing work on them. And, what I admire most about my students on those technology days is how unconsciously quick they make do with the headphones that we have.
My students have become accustomed to passionate tangoes with their headphones; a tug here and a dip there may do the trick for a while, but eventually, the babies find themselves calling for back up.
I yearn for them to experience technology days uninterrupted by the impish ways of our current headphones. Making every facet of learning enjoyable and worthwhile for my students is paramount and I know that new, dependable headphones would bring the perfect dose of enjoyment to my babies' technology days.
