My students need tech essentials and organization as we prepare them for our technology filled world! Headphones, mice, and organization for them are a must in the 21st century classroom.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I have twenty-four hard working students. Every morning they come to school excited to see their friends and learn new things. The students face poverty, split families, and hunger each day. On top of all of this, they strive to do their best and grow each day in the classroom. School is a place of refuge, and I strive to work together with students to create an environment where the stress and distractions of home fade away.
A pivotal element to my students' success is developing a classroom community of readers, writers, and learners.
As a class, we must come together as a team each day, putting behind us the elements that are out of our control and picking up the day's tasks. We must learn to deal with conflict, emotion, and challenge. Together, we learn from one another and are inspired to never give up!
My Project
Our classroom is blessed with a class set of Chromebooks. Each day we use our Chromebooks for online reading, writing, and explorations. Students are no longer limited to a twenty year old textbook or a basal reader. We are researching, watching, and discussing complex text, current science, and connecting with our community and world wirelessly.
As Spiderman says, "With great power comes great responsibility." We work each day to be responsible for our Chromebooks and ensure their working order.
However, our headphones have not held up to the job. There's nothing worse than watching a Hawaiian volcano explode in small groups, and hearing half your class say, "I can't hear it!" We need a few new headphones, mice, and storage solutions for both of them.
