Do you know a struggling reader or a student who cannot put a book down? We want all our students to expand their reading skills. Using iPods and books on CD will help our students improve their comprehension, decoding, and fluency and will help us connect with them at their levels of learning.
We have 88 amazing 2nd grade students whose enthusiasm for learning is inspiring.
Our school is a public charter school that models inclusive education. Inclusive education means that the children reflect the demographics of the surrounding neighborhoods, and our classes include children with different ability levels. Some students develop typically, others have special needs, and some are gifted. What makes our school unique is that they all learn side by side. Our model allows for the individual needs of each child to be addressed in a manner that enhances each child's strengths while also addressing learning needs.
My Project
Learning and teaching will be more fun and inviting with iPods along with Reading and Listening Centers. Technology plays a vital role in students' success in mastering Common Core Standards. This project will benefit every student in our class and other 2nd grade classes. We want all our students to "Be the Best That They Can Be"!
In order to teach a class with varying degrees of abilities, it becomes a challenge for us without a wide variety of technological resources. To help all our students meet their maximum potential, we must provide resources and create lessons and activities to help all students access the curriculum. This can be accomplished in small learning groups, utilizing iPods with reading and listening centers. Reading is the key to a successful future for all our 2nd graders.
Research has shown that students who are good readers achieve more in school.
They are able to successfully engage in learning activities across the curriculum. By donating to our project, you will be helping all our students learn and succeed.
