My students arrived in 5th grade this year with a greater sense of appreciation to be in the classroom instead of in an at-home learning environment. They recognize the privilege it has been to remain at school depite many new policies and procedures that have changed the way they interact with each other.
Covid has not only changed the way my students interact, but it has also changed the way they access information.
My students are more adept with more applications and learning platforms than any class I have ever taught. They catch on quickly and find engagement in the versatility of activities.
My Project
This project will provide durable headphones to each individual student in my classroom. Since COVID-19, I have made an effort to include a variety of digital lesson components or activities to our daily work to increase their confidence and expertise in using technology, as well as prepare them for possible school shut downs. Many of these activities require headphones. We use them on a daily basis in a variety of content areas. Each day students use a reading and math program that is designed to focus in on their individual unfinished learning from previous grades as well as enhance the teaching that I do in small groups or whole group instruction.
New headphones will help ensure that student's learning activities will continue daily with quality sound and without disruption.
In addition, their longevity will meet the needs of future classroom students, as well.
