My students are fourth grade sponges, soaking up new experiences and new learning in exciting ways. We rotate for math and reading, and that means more opportunity for me to work with and get to know more students. All of my students enjoy using technology when they have the chance.
My students love math and reading, and they support each other through struggles as well as celebrate each other's growth.
It's amazing to watch this happen. They love to share new things they're learning with each other and with any adult who comes into our room.
My Project
More focused, small group instruction as well as individualized lessons are part of the way we teach in fourth grade. Students are all over the room working, some in small groups, some independently, but there's always some conversation happening either among students or among those working with me.
There are times, however, when instruction must be individualized, and if using technology, the sound from the device can interfere with other students' learning.
With a high poverty rate in my school, it is difficult for families to afford decent headphones for their children. I have a few sturdy headphones, and I have a handful of students that have some basic tiny cheap ones that aren't going to make it through the year.
I am in need of a decent sturdy set of headphones for at least half my class so that I can assign activities that involve sound.
