My students are becoming "Super Readers!" Even though most of my students come from backgrounds that haven’t emphasized education, we are working on changing that attitude. In my classroom, we embrace books and we spend time reading books of our choice every day. We are inspired by each other's reading and we share book talks and rich conversations about books.
My students are incredible young people who are going to change the world!
We have been reading books and stories about young people who have made major changes in their communities and even the whole world. I can't wait to see what each and every one of my students do for our world!
My Project
I will be using these books about punctuation, idioms, and point of view, as part of my escape room. I can't wait to see my students engaged in these topics. The keys and locks are just waiting for them to escape my room! I have heard so many great things about escape rooms. Our staff did one as a team builder to start the year and it was fantastic.
Punctuation is not always the most exciting thing to teach so why not make it an escape room?
I am hoping that students will be so engaged that the skills they seem to be missing when it comes to punctuation, idioms, and point of view, will become natural for them.
