My Students

I work in a small, rural school in Illinois. We are a Title I school located in a low-income area, with over 50% of our students receiving free or reduced-price lunch.

The BHS Volleyball team is a talented group of young women who excel in academics as well as teamwork.

Over 90% of the team is on the Honor Roll and several players are in the top 10% of their class. I know I can always depend on them to help in other school activities as well. I am lucky to have a great group of young women to work with. They are enthusiastic and have a love for the game.

My Project

We are a small school so the High School and Middle School volleyball teams share all equipment. It is great that we can help each other out, but it also wears out the equipment rather quickly.

The new ball cart and volleyballs will be used to replace our old and damaged ones.

We have to have two ball carts and one of ours ripped at the end of the season. The girls have to spend time at the beginning of practice airing up old volleyballs because they lose air weekly. We hold yearly fundraisers to help with expenses, but we are needing to replace a bit more than usual this year.
