My students need flexible seating. Sitting on the floor is one of their favorite and most productive ways to work. My students like to sit in groups not separated by tables or desks.

My Students
My students are only 8 or 9 years old. Education is not their prime concern each morning. Most live in challenging situations: foster homes, single parents, grandparents, absent parents, hunger, loneliness, loss. They struggle with many things. Learning math and reading is not in the mainstream of their thought processes.
I teach a lot about positive social behaviors.
Many students struggle to deal with anger and frustration in an appropriate manner. They lash out physically and verbally. Swearing and vulgar language is what many of my students consider normal communication, particularly when emotional.
Although these students have difficult situations, they are still young and very teachable. The glimpses of positivity and hope they see at school helps to fuel them in a progressive direction.
My Project
Students often struggle with sitting in a desk and chair situation all day. Most adults do as well. Offering my students alternatives to the traditional seating will not only boost morale but also productivity.
When students can work comfortably in cooperative groups they are more productive.
It also encourages positive social interactions. My students need many opportunities that foster positive social relations. Having flexible seating that is both comfortable and space saving is a win-win situation.
These seats are amazing. They offer comfort and mobility, but also a designation of personal space. The fact that they offer back support is unique to most flexible seating. My students will love these seats.
