I teach incredible 9th grade students in my Ceramics classes. In this age of 'no child left untested,' my room is a refuge for everyone who has other gifts in life. I challenge my students to solve visual problems and apply skills, rather than just memorize.
I am fortunate enough to have my own pottery wheel that I keep at school. My students are masters at hand-building and are dying to work on the pottery wheel. However, we have one wheel and 25 students. That equates to four days on the wheel per student. It simply isn't enough to build the skills they need.
I need a pottery wheel so I can teach my students the art of throwing. They are so eager, don't let their enthusiasm go to waste.
You can make it possible for my students to exercise their creativity and build their skills. Help me teach them about the innovations and technology involved in creating everything from dishes to sculptures.
