My amazing students are bright, energetic, eager, fun, and just plain cool; I am so lucky to be their teacher! My students have a wide range of reading abilities and I want them all to have access to multiple types and levels of reading material.
This project focuses on providing my students with a wide variety of quality books, at various levels.
I want to give them the freedom of choice in selecting quality reading materials that are at their level.

My Project
In my 1st grade classroom, we follow the Daily-5 model. Each morning the students have a Read-to-Self time where they can choose a book, find a comfy corner, and read to themselves for at least 15 minutes. I want them to be so engaged in their reading that they ask me "Can we read for longer?"
This project will offer interesting, engaging, age-appropriate texts to my class of 16.
I want them to feel excited to read and eager to make book choices on topics and characters that they love.
