My classroom is full of bright, inquisitive young minds. My sweet Kindergarten students come to school eager to learn and experience new things.
They love engaging in hands on math fluency activities.
We work every day to build our math skills so we can show it and write it. They love showing off what they have learned.
We work hard in the classroom and have a lot of fun. I am always so proud of the growth they show every day.
My Project
In Kindergarten, one of our most important goals is to build a strong sense of numbers.
Being able to count fluently is the basis of all other math skills.
To do this my students need hands on materials to build their understanding. We will be using sets of Unifix cubes to learn how to count to 100. These are used during our daily math fluency practice to learn how to create groups of 10. In addition, we will be using the cubes with dry erase boards and 10 frames to both show and write about their numbers.
Understanding how to make a 10 will help my students learn addition and subtraction. As they move on in school, they will also have a better sense of how to multiply and divide.
