I am a pre-k teacher in Brooklyn and love to introduce new books to my class. I introduce based on themes. I truly enjoy when they love a book that I have shared with them. We just finished a theme on transportation, and my class really liked the book "The Little Engine That Could" by Watty Piper. Whenever they get silent reading time, they all want to get to the bookshelf first so that they can read the book. I have to make sure that every one gets a chance to read it so that there is no fight over it. Many ask me if they can take the book home, and it would be a great dream of mine to let them have their very own copy of "The Little Engine That Could" so that they can enjoy it at home whenever they want. I believe that the gift of reading is the best gift you can give a child, and if they love a book then I want them to love it for years to come. Please allow me to give the gift of reading to my class.
