How can I share 1 computer screen with 22 children? There is 1 computer in my room, on my desk. I want to share pictures and videos, find interesting websites about the topics that interest them, create lessons that POP. We all need to be able to see them... how can I do that using 1 little screen?
My students are inquisitive and excited about learning.
They are encouraged to ask questions without fear and they ask A LOT of questions! My students go to a school where they learn to respect themselves as well as each other. They are interested in animals, sports, cars, anime, art, music. They are taking TaeKwonDo, Chinese, gymnastics, piano. My students are African American, Filipino, Vietnamese, Mexican, Chinese, Guatemalan, Laotian, Israeli, Lebanese, and European. My students come from very well-to-do families and from welfare families. I have students that live with both parents, one parent, grandparents or guardians. My students realize that we are a family in our classroom.
My Project
In my students' future I see....lessons using the internet. I see PowerPoint presentations of high frequency words. I see curiosity instantly explored for all to see. I see easy color coded examples for creating super sentences, with words changing colors for the parts of speech we're identifying. I see morning bell work that I can save from year to year, so I can use what works and tweak what didn't. I see students excited about seeing their work on "the big screen". I see student slide shows on the screen of field trips we've taken for parents to see at Open House.
This type of equipment should be standard in a classroom.
But our district is broke; we aren't a title I school; our parents cannot afford to supply this type of tool. Receiving this projector, I could show my students how important and easy it is to use technology every day, for anything they want to do: write, explore the world, look for pictures for a project, find a definition, make a graph,... everything can be done with a computer. This is how the world works and I need to teach them that.
