My students attend a Title I school in Oklahoma. We have a student population of 700+ with a high percent of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch. They come from large, single parent families. This is the first time for most of them to be in school. They love school and the stability it provides. They come to school every day excited and ready to learn. They are ready to keep up with their peers and excel in their learning. My students will overcome any obstacle put in their paths!
My Project
I want all my students to feel successful in the classroom. Unfortunately many come in with an I can't do it attitude. I want to purchase some very basic hands on items for my early learners to be successful and gain confidence in their reading abilities.
These books and center activities will let students be in charge of their learning through hands on activities.
They address many different levels of learning starting with alphabet letters and sound moving to beginning reading of word families and 3 letter words. They are high interest items that will grab the attention of the most reluctant learner.
