My students need tissues. During this flu and allergy season, my students need tissues everday. Unfortunately my school doesn't provide tissues as a basic need to students therefore I have to purchase them for my students.
My students walk into our classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day. My students are all different types of learners and have various backgrounds. I have students who do not speak English, students with disabilities, and some students who are homeless.
I teach at a Title I school in the Bronx, New York where 100 percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.
Many of my students receive food and clothing from the school's charity drives. Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best. They want to be in school because they want to learn all they can so they can be successful one day.
These tissues will ensure that students are able to wipe their runny nose's and watery eyes during flu and allergy season. Many students in my class are using their sleeves to wipe their nose's and eyes because that is their only option. Other times when a student is really in need of a tissue, they have to go to the bathroom and use a rough bathroom paper towel. Not only is this uncomfortable, they are missing valuable instructional time by having to leave the classroom to get a paper towel. If the students had tissues, they would be able to stay in the classroom and continue learning without interupption.
