My Students

Words cannot describe how excited I am to have my first classroom! Due to the fact this is my first year teaching, I am trying to grow and expand my resources! In addition, our students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds with 100% of students receiving free breakfast and lunch.

My school is also one of the most ethnically diverse schools in the city, where students speak a multitude of languages.

As diverse as our students are economically and culturally, they are diverse in their academics. Every day, I make sure to welcome my students with a smile on my face and, in return, they exchange a smile back, ready to learn and succeed. Despite many hardships my students may face, they are eager and put in their best effort. They know that our classroom is never about a perfect outcome; it is instead about the risks and effort put forth. My students certainly deserve a successful and engaging classroom, where they can become life long learners.

My Project

I am looking for additional texts within our classroom. I am hoping to receive a bit of a variety when it comes to the diverse genres mybstudenrs need to be exposed to. I am hoping to receive folk tales, fables, and myths to read aloud to my student and then add it to our library collection so they can continue reading such wonderful genres. Also, we are hoping for biographies and autobiographies to add to our class too. Having the diverse texts will help students determine the difference between an autobiography (written directly from the source) and a biography (a different person writes about a specific individual). These books will in addition allow a great added value to our library and read aloud a as well. Thank you so much in advance.
