it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Did you ever wonder how bees get honey in jars? Or if bats glow in the dark? Well, these are just a few of the questions my inquisitive pre-k students ask and are desperate to know the answers to! In a world seemingly overcome by technology, I want to keep my pre-k students asking, investigating, and working with hands on materials. When my students direct their own learning, conduct their own research, and make their own discoveries, we see their love of learning skyrocket! Their eyes light up, their brows furrow deep in thought, and the knowledge sticks!
My Project
My lively class of pre-k students arrive daily bubbling with excitement and teeming with important life questions that need to be answered. They know by now that they will never receive a direct answer from me. Rather, I stress the importance of these budding scientists doing their own research. With your generous donation, when a student wants to know if bats really drink blood, I can refer them to Gail Gibbons bat book to find out everything they wanted to know about these magnificent mammals. If they wonder if a tarantula has more legs than eyes, they can grab one of our science life puzzles and discover for themselves. Or if they want to know how big a butterfly's proboscis is, I can send them to our science table to grab our butterfly specimen set and a magnifying glass!
