I need funding to attend the Texas Annual Math Conference for Administrators and Educators designed to improve the knowledge and skills of mathematics teachers and supervisors.
I've been teaching for three years and not one day goes by that I don't love my job!! I teach in a school that has students with limited English speaking parents, low income households, students that are free or reduced lunch. And I have the opposite of that where there are students that come from a two parent working home.
We have a diverse population at our campus, but every single student wants to give more than they even thought they could give, which makes me want to give more than I even thought I could.
My students have a passion for learning, especially when they know that you care about their learning. My students love that I want to make their learning entertaining, differentiated, and challenging.
My Project
CAMT’s mission is to assist in upgrading the quality of mathematics education in the state of Texas by presenting an annual conference for teachers and supervisors of mathematics designed to improve the knowledge and skills of mathematics teachers and supervisors. The three-day conference is conducted each summer, on a rotating basis, in Fort Worth, Houston, and San Antonio. The Conference for the Advancement of Mathematics Teaching (CAMT) is an annual Texas conference for K-12 mathematics teachers. The conference is sponsored jointly by the Texas Council of Teachers of Mathematics, the Texas Association of Supervisors of Mathematics, and the Texas Section of the Mathematical Association of America.
The workshops and sessions consist of mathematics content and pedagogy appropriate for K-12 mathematics teachers.
Outstanding speakers from all over the state and nation submit proposals to present sessions, and a program committee selects sessions most appropriate for the conference. Also, a large number of presenters are invited from all over the country to present featured sessions.
Most session presenters are outstanding, practicing mathematics teachers, who present ideas for teaching that they have found effective in their classrooms. Many sessions involve hands-on learning activities that teachers can use in the classroom to address various topics in the mathematics curriculum. Effective use of manipulative materials in the classroom is an important component of the conference, and a number of sessions regarding manipulative use occur at each conference. Use of technology in classroom instruction is also an important component of the CAMT conference.
