Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
After every math unit, I take a day to decorate my entire classroom to match the topic of our end-of-unit assignment. So far this year, we have been detectives and solved place-value crimes and we have also been chefs opening our own restaurant using our knowledge of multiplication.
This project will provide me with all of the materials that we will need for our next project, "Planning a Camping Trip".
I plan on making our entire classroom look as though we are truly camping; complete with a tent, forest background, camp fires, other camping decorations, plastic camping toys, lanterns, and plastic camping table cloths to enhance each table group! Plus, I will also be able to display the camping signs outside our room so that the students get a taste of what they are going to encounter before they even walk in!
The students tell me that these projects make coming to school exciting and they are always looking forward to our next end-of-unit assignment because they know that they will be walking into a wonderland in our classroom.
