My Project

We’re excited to launch the Camp Road Middle School Fishing Club, a program that gives students a chance to explore the outdoors, learn new skills, and connect with each other in a positive way. Fishing isn’t just about catching fish—it’s about patience, problem solving, teamwork, and respect for nature.

Our club is built around four core values sportsmanship by practicing fairness, respect, and encouragement; fishing skills by teaching knot-tying, casting, fish ID, and more and environmental stewardship by protecting Charleston’s waterways through responsible fishing practices safety by learning safe handling of gear and awareness near the water.

Students will meet weekly during lunch for lessons, demonstrations, and team-building activities. Once a month, we’ll gather at local Charleston fishing spots for weekend meetups, where students can apply their skills in a safe and supervised environment.

We want every student to participate, regardless of whether they own fishing gear. To make that possible, we are asking for donations of supplies or funds to help us get started. Items we need include fishing rods and reels; hooks, sinkers, bobbers, and tackle; bait (live or artificial); safety gear like life vests and first aid kits; and tackle boxes or storage bins

Every contribution either big or small helps ensure that students have access to this unique and meaningful opportunity. By supporting the Fishing Club, you’re not just providing equipment; you’re helping students build confidence, strengthen friendships, and develop lifelong skills.
