To say that "I love my students" would be an understatement. Each of them brings unique personalities to our community that makes our school an amazing place. They are all knowledgable, capable students who continue to overcome a variety of obstacles in order to get where they are.
That's why I need your help!
My students come from an underserved neighborhood in Youngstown, Ohio. The teachers, staff, and administration are working on modeling and creating a positive climate and culture in an effort to make our school more welcoming; we have partnered with a variety of organizations to begin connecting our school with the community. But, we are far from giving our students an equal opportunity in education.
You can change that. Thank you, in advance, on behalf of my students for taking the time to be the change. It is because of you and your help that they are being given a more equitable educational experience.
The super science magazines that I am requesting for my students already have a "home." In other words, I know exactly where everything will go and just how I will keep track of them. We just need your help in getting them through our door! The supplies will be used by the students, so that they may create, learn, and explore. I am excited to have another avenue for the students to listen to reading, create their own recordings, and so much more!
The donations to this project will help to improve my students' understanding of and competency in authentic, meaningful writing.
By implementing these items to my classroom, my students will begin to see themselves as true authors, readers, illustrators, and learners. We will use these materials to aide us in the process of becoming life-long readers. As the teacher, I have done extensive research and reading on community, reading, and culture in the primary grades. Yet I truly need your support to make this a reality. Thanks!
