My Students

Year 17 of my teaching career has just kicked off to a great start with my 28 happy kindergarteners. I’ve been at this school since it opened 17 years ago and have been looking at ways to keep all the wonderful things that made us an amazing school but incorporate new strategies and modalities of teaching to engage all learners. Reading is a big focus in primary grades and my hope with this project is to motivate students to the joy of reading.

My Project

As a traveler there is nothing greater than finding a secret or hidden place to explore. Bringing a little outdoor camping into our home sweet classroom theme with a tent, pillows and flashlights I hope to encourage students to find a little place to explore through literature.

Kindergarten is a very big year of transitions and one is that they begin to read.

As a teacher, it is so exciting and rewarding to hear the joy of a student when they expressed that they read the book all by themselves.
