The students of my classroom come from all grades and every background imaginable. They are the creatives of the school- the ones that sit in desks and rows and daydream about worlds without right or wrong answers, where they can create the questions, the answers, and all the pathways to get to them. They yearn for a place where your self worth is not tied to a letter grade, but to the dedication and spirit you bring to the project.
My goal as an educator is to offer them a place where they can create, dream, learn, and grow into the most amazing people this world has to offer.
I want to give them a place to try, succeed, fail, collaborate, and create without the fear of right and wrong answers, and nothing but their own judgement to hold them back. I want to challenge them to understand the world in a way they never thought of, and celebrate with them when they finally do.
My students are the dreamers, and I simply want to give them a safe place to dream.
Our students are doing amazing things. They have a garden, tiny house, and business. They also go on amazing trips to learn about the natural world and provide service to their community... and this is after they finish their lessons and personal projects. With all of this excitement, we need a way to document their achievements and inspire them to go even further. The cameras will be used to not only document lessons and business adventures, but also to teach about principles of art and observation techniques. They will allow us to take our work to the next level and prove it.
