This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are respectful, hard working, and deserving of a great classroom experience despite the negative critiques from surrounding cities. They come from a highly diverse but lower socioeconomic area. Students at DVHS yearn for a classroom with the latest technology and amenities needed for a publications/yearbook class.
Grade levels of our yearbook/publications students runs from 9th to 12th grade.
Our seniors are very excited about the ideas they have our upcoming yearbook, their legacy. They are also very excited that they may actually get to use DSLRs before they graduate.
My Project
We are in a lower socioeconomic district and we cannot afford many of the nicer materials that would allow us to have a much nicer yearbook. One thing of the many things we are lacking are good cameras. We only have three cameras for 41 students! With two more DSLRs, our students will have the ability to learn photography skills on a camera other than their cell phone.
We have had a photographer come and speak to our class on the functions of cameras and how to take quality pictures, but with only cell phones, many of the students would never know the power of a DSLR.
