Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Students from my senior economics and government classes participate in our Mountain Sports Club, which opens opportunities to explore nature and new environments outside of the regular classroom.
My students challenge themselves and conquer fears, rock climbing, and trekking through the Sierras.
This is huge since our district is largely low income. Many of our students' families can not afford visits to the mountains.
They are excited to explore the world through adventure and hope to make the upcoming club bigger than ever.
As our Mountain Sports Club continues to grow so do our digital needs. We are currently working on getting more cameras for bigger digital projects, as well as learning Go Pro applications and software. Some of those include Quik, Lightroom and Connect. The goal is to have access to top tier digital cameras that will incorporate media lessons to your club activities. We would love to have a GoPro camera!
What inspires us is looking at exciting videos about sports like rock climbing, and learning how to capture similar footage of our trips to the Sierras.
We would love to expose as many students as possible to filming outdoors with the best equipment. Many students already have an interest in filmography and eventually we would love to use our images on social media to drive interest in our club.
