This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

6th grade is the first year of middle school. After three years of pandemic related stress and anxiety, this year has been more challenging than ever. Having Calming Space will help my students learn how to manage their stress and anxiety.

Learning how to self-regulate emotions is key to navigating our pandemic stricken world.

Creating safe and supportive classroom spaces is very important, and having a Calming Space will help our 6th graders through the transition to middle school and beyond.

Students can journal, color, breathe, and engage in other mindful activities while taking some time in the Calming Space.
