My Students

“ We can teach our children to flap their wings, but conditions have to be right for them to fly”- Anne Campbell. I am a brand new special education teacher. I would like to set up my classroom for my students to be able to learn in fun, educational setting. I was lucky enough to student teach in the same classroom I was hired for. I have come to know each student and their bright personalities. I look forward to going to work every morning to be greeted with their smiling faces and leave each day with a full heart! I want to make my classroom a calm environment that they can learn in. I want to offer them flexible seating and lighting. I have 5 students who have autism and would love to be able to set up a corner to help them calm down during a tough time. I want a sensory station to help each student benefit from it. I want to make sure each student feels comfortable and wants to learn!

My Project

This is my first year teaching, and the classroom I moved into was very cluttered and had so many toys and puzzles so the kids were easily distracted. I am trying to transform my classroom from a busy, cluttered room to a calm classroom to help better the students learning. I want to provide alternate seating for the children as well as incorporate calming colors.

My goal is to have something to benefit each child so that they can reach their full potential.

By doing this it will make it space where they feel calm and collected coming in. My students will be able to focus better in this environment. By giving my students the option of different seating they can use it will help them feel more motivated to work.

By creating a calm classroom it will allow the students to focus more and enhance better learning.
