This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The mindfulness books, Milliard Cozy Chair, Lava lamp, Safavieh Home Collection Everly Vintage White Drawer I'm requesting for my students are to create a calm environment so they can self-regulate their emotions, deal with the anxiety they may be experiencing, or just a quiet place where they can sit comfortably to refocus. The calm space will also provide students with various nature tapestry settings and soothing music from the Douni Sleep Sound Machine to improve their mood. The books will also help students manage their feelings and stress by providing them with strategies to help with their social-emotional learning.

Students must be allowed to deal with their emotions appropriately, and by giving them their unique space, they will be able to deal with whatever they might be experiencing at home and school.

I already have a space in mind to place all the items I’m requesting. I want the calm corner to be inviting for students to explore on their own. My students are very special to me and I want them to have accessible resources to assist them when they encounter emotional obstacles that might hinder their learning.
