This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
I have a group of little learners who are very sensitive and enjoy learning new skills with my guidance through play experiences which allow them to become independent in the targeted area of social/emotional self regulation skills.
A calming area is a useful strategy to teach self-management.
Including it in the classroom will help students process an experience and learn how to de-escalate when they are having a difficult time with transitioning, as well as learning to problem solve real life situations in a positive manner that result in positive outcomes. We need puzzles, books, emotions mirrors, and more for our calming area.
