This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My kindergartners are learning about their emotions and how to express and regulate them. A calming area will enhance our Social-emotional learning by giving them the space and materials to express themselves.

Calm areas help children to practice identifying feelings and emotions to better manage stress, self-regulate and control their impulses.

The furniture will make the space inviting and comfortable. The materials will give my studetns choices to express themselves. They may choose to paint on the easel, draw/journal on paper, read a book, or just taking some time to reflect.
