Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are young, enthusiastic, excited learners who love coming to school, wondering, experiencing, and playing! They work hard and play hard as they research about friends, community, and emotions through authentic interactions and opportunities for play-based learning.

Promoting self-care, emotion identification, and self-regulation are essential to help them love and be successful in their first school experiences.

Learning to identify and regulate their emotions, along with choosing appropriate tools to problem-solve, are essential skills for every human and learner. This "Calming Area" is an essential tool to support this process. All of the materials requested through this project will allow the students in my class to have a designated space they can use anytime they are feeling a need to reset and rejuvenate. The canopy, beanbags, and rug will identify the "Calming Area". The books and posters will supply visuals for them to refer to, and the sensory materials, toys, games, and stuffed animals will provide them choices in deciding what they can do to feel better when they are experiencing big feelings.
