Calming Area

My Project

The ongoing stress, fear, grief, and uncertainty created by the COVID-19 pandemic have weighed heavily on children and teens. Many are having a tough time coping emotionally.

I want to help students have a calming area with material to help them manage their stress.

The whiteboard table allows my students to draw pictures using various colored dry-erase markers to express themselves or they can draw pictures on the mini-sketch pads. The fidget chair bands will be placed around the front legs of the chairs to allow my kids to move freely, bounce, and kick the bands while seated. I can give them the sensory stickers to help them stay focused during whole group instructions on the rug. The storage bins will store all the materials, such as plush toys and sensory toys, they need to help them calm themselves.
