My students will be entering the fourth grade and will be engaged in learning for both social studies and science curriculum. Students in this class will engage in a variety of activities that will involve learning the basics of government, citizenship, geography, environment, energy, waves, transfer of information, molecules, and organisms to name a few. I want to create a learning environment that is fun and engaging for the students.
This will be my first opportunity to get to know my students as I am a first-year teacher.
I want to make a great impression and let them know that our class is a safe place where learning is not only possible but that it is expected. The goal is that the decor of the classroom will represent a theme of exploration. I want it to be bold and captivate their interests.
My Project
This area will allow my students the ability to still be involved in the learning process while making themselves more comfortable. Also, this seating area will give them the opportunity to focus on scientific and social studies related to discoveries. It can also double as a reward reading area if all other tasks are complete.
The theme of my room is exploration and this seating area will allow my students the freedom of exploring in a non-formal environment.
The goal is for this spot to be a favorite in the classroom and it will be utilized daily. I plan to use existing shelving, books, games, and decor that I already have along with the items chosen to enhance the area.
